2-1 Home Win Over SCFC Keeps Lowcountry United Top

Lowcountry United secured all 3 points over Georgia rivals Savannah Clovers in a 2-1 win for game 9 of the UPSL Southeast Conference.

This match saw the rivalry continue to heat up as the Charleston faithful kicked off in possession. Lowcountry United would maintain control of the match with heavy spells of possession in the first 25 mins however Savannah would not allow first blood to anyone but the Green & Gold. The Clovers struck first with a quick counter attack that saw Clovers attack beating United center-backs Tambakis & Perez to split the two and bang home the opening goal.

Lowcountry would press back with strong stretching of the game and dominate midfield work from United CM’s Tyler Clare & Adedayo Akinlabi. United would tie up the deficit at the closing of the 1st half after being awarded a PK due to a shove in the box to Jamal Eddine who was jumping to head in a bouncing ball. Former Charleston Battery Forward Austin Savage would step up and secure his 4th goal of the season.

The 2nd half started to see several hard challenges and tempers rising between the two sides but the game would be changed after a picture perfect goal from United Winger Ivey Gathers. Jamal Eddine off the corner kick sent a pacey in swinging cross and Gathers rose high to head home a powerful goal and secure his second goal of the UPSL campaign for United.

The match would continue to intensify with the Clovers pressing for the equalizer and after a couple shots onto goal the Clovers were awarded a free kick right outside the 18. Clovers forward Henry Bane would take the shot over the 7 man orange wall but dominate GK Dylan Meeker makes the diving save to parry the ball out and keep United top.

Final score Lowcountry United 2 – 1 Savannah Clovers. United take all 3 points and maintain their 9 game unbeaten run.
