Lowcountry United Silence Atlanta ASA FC | 2-1 Away Win

21 May 2018

Lowcountry United hit the road for Atlanta for game 10 of the 2018 UPSL season.

United began with a few changes to the starting XI with most notable changes being new signing Cody Prentiss from Georgia Southern University making his club debut and first semiprofessional start in the United Premier Soccer League. Also Lowcountry’s youngest player 16 year old Lucca Ferreira made his first start of the season.

It wouldn’t take long for this pair to make their mark in the match, a 15th minute goal would come from Ferreira collecting the ball out wide and would deliver a well driven cross to Prentiss who would head onto goal to only be parried away by the Atlanta GK but the save would push the ball straight to the waiting head of club leading goal scorer Jamal Eddine who from close range made no mistake in putting it away.

Atlanta would continue to work well at finding space in behind the United midfield which allowed 3 quality changes on goal but Lowcountry shot stopper Dylan Meeker would make sure to keep out any chances with a dominate presence between the sticks. Lowcountry continued executing space in wide areas stretching out the Atlanta back line with the most noticeable chance being from midfielder Tyler Clare who’s flicked on pass to winger Ivey Gathers beat the outside back but unfortunately Gathers speed saw him sky the one on one opportunity. Lowcountry would maintain the lead going into half time.

Atlanta would come back early on in the 2nd half with a loss of possession saw Atlanta capitalize off a turnover in possession which they immediately provided service into the Lowcountry box and a well-placed header beat the United keeper to draw the game level at 1 apiece.

The game would become increasingly more physical with both sides chasing the win but Lowcountry United would absorb the pressure with keeping a well-organized back line lead by center back Terence Meeker would continue to see Atlanta’s chances cleared from the United half.

The final goal would come by way of an absolute stunner of a goal by none other than club captain Jamal Eddine off a corner kick which saw Eddine send in a powerful in swinger to beat the keeper and wrap the left side netting to take Lowcountry United up 2-1 over Atlanta.

United would claim its 9th win of the season and now sit at 28 points with a bye week and next upcoming game against C-Ville FC away in Virginia which will be a huge game for the division title race.
